READING IS ACHIEVING
BOOK CLUB
MISSION
At WAKEUP MOVEMENT, Inc., we are committed to educating young people in the community about financial literacy and money management. We recognize that these subjects are not often taught in schools, leaving our youth uneducated and lacking in the necessary financial intelligence to navigate life. Through our READING IS ACHIEVING BOOKCLUB program, we aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve financial freedom and excel in life.
PROGRAM
Our READING IS ACHIEVING BOOKCLUB program runs throughout the calendar school year, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Currently held at The Boys and Girls Club Family Center. Transportation and a meal will be provided. The program is open to middle and high school students in the Springfield, Massachusetts community. Throughout the course of the program, each student will receive a RICH DAD POOR DAD book, a pencil, a notebook, and a drawstring knapsack.
The program begins each day with a moment of gratitude, allowing students to express what they are grateful for in their lives. One student will also present a vocabulary word from the book and discuss its significance in the context of the material. After reading a designated portion of the book, students engage in group discussions, reflecting on their insights and questions about the material. Guest speakers, such as financial experts, entrepreneurs, or professionals in related fields, are occasionally invited to share their knowledge and experiences.
Throughout the program, students will participate in various projects and activities, such as creating personal budgets or developing business plans, reinforcing the concepts learned from the book. Students will be encouraged to track their progress throughout the program, setting personal goals and milestones and sharing them with the group. At the end of the program, a celebratory event will be organized to recognize the efforts and achievements of the students.
At WAKEUP MOVEMENT, Inc., we are committed to empowering young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve financial success and independence. By cultivating a community of informed and responsible individuals, we hope to break the cycle of financial inequality and create a brighter future for the next generation.
